dont just fix your gaze on wonders like micheal phelps, she's the true hero in the game. olympics is not just all about glory. "I'm the luckiest girl in the world to participate in two Olympic Games, and I hope to get to London." she's Robina Muqimyar, the only afganistan woman athelete participating in 100m sprint in 2008 beijing olympics. despite coming in last out of 85 with a timing of 14.08secs, she touched the hearts of millions. she's simply extraordinary. she does not have a qualified trainer, she has no sponsor, she comes from a country ruined by war and she grew up under hardline Islamist rulers who would not brook girls playing sport. she only have 2 weeks to train, and despite opposition from the conservative society and even threats from taliban, she went for the event against all odds. i'm deeply moved by her bravery. she's a woman who have the courage to stand up in a society dominated by man, one that woman are denied of their pursue of freedom and rights. if you ever watched the event and mocked at her for you think even you can do better than that, please be ashamed of yourselve. she ran in headscarve, without proper spikes. how much does she have to scarifice for this moment that lasted for merely 14seconds? i'll be parying for her, day and night. sincerely hope to see her again in london 2012. i hope i'm lucky enough to be there to show her my appreciation. for more pictures and updates of my heroine, please click here like afganistan, china and korea were also societies traditionally dominated by man. blame confucianism, that's the root cause for the gender inequality. if confucian (the so called great man in chinese history) himself was a woman, he would have a totally different perspective. if you are a man, i'm sure you would love to practice polygamy. but would you also like to share your wife with other men?! if you dont, what makes you think that your wife would love to share you with other women?! i'm sure confucian, that muddle-head old man, capitalised on his influence to satisfy his greed, not for the good of mankind, in creating a society dictated by man. what is it with "man are bread winners, women are home makers"?
